On the occasion of the Laufcampus Runningdays there is the chance to run a half marathon four times a year. You run this run as a virtual half marathon , i.e. where you are and within the seven days whenever you have the time. This post will give you some tips on how to make your half marathon a success for you.
A virtual half marathon or road run as a half marathon is always 21.0975 kilometers long and therefore exactly half as long as a marathon run. The length of a marathon was set at 42.195 kilometers by the World Athletics Federation in 1921, after it was first held over this route at the Olympic Games in London. The IAAF even organizes half marathon world championships (World Athletics Half Marathon Championships) every year. The Kenyan Kibiwott Kandie has held the half marathon world record since December 2020 in an incredible 57:32 minutes, running in Valencia.
With half marathon Laufcampus founder Andreas Butz has one the best-selling half marathon guide, so it goes without saying that a virtual half marathon must also be part of the Runningdays. Virtual means that this run is not restricted to a specific location and that each runner is responsible for maintaining the correct distance. Nowadays, modern sports watches and smartphone apps offer all the requirements for correct measurement.
After you have purchased your starting place for the Runningdays, you can register with the code from the ticket sent to you by email immediately after booking and select the half-marathon distance here. The world elite need less than an hour, the German elite less than 1:05 hours, as a hobby runner, a time of under 1:30 hours is really ambitious. For many recreational runners, undercutting the 2-hour sound barrier is feasible. But depending on the individual requirements, the time available for training, the physical requirements and the age, a three-hour half marathon can also be a first goal (7 km / h). If you think you will need longer, you should walk briskly first, the virtual half marathons are also suitable for this. Nobody needs to worry that the finish line has already been broken because the cracks have already crossed the finish line, in the virtual runs of the Runningdays you are responsible for crossing the finish line yourself ;-)
The faster you are on the road, the less important the topic of catering is. Because the faster a run goes by, the lower the loss of fluid, which can have a performance-reducing effect. If you plan to need more than two hours, you should think about drinks, especially in warm weather conditions. Running vests with hydration bladders for the back or soft flasks for the front are ideal. Or you can design the run on a circular course, where you always pass your refreshment station after three to seven kilometers, that can be the parked car or your home. A nice companion on a bike is also a good solution.
The half marathon distance is one of the most popular competitions for amateur runners, because 21.1 kilometers are a real challenge but doable. Rewarding yourself for this performance with a valuable medal is obvious.

Viele Firmenläufe – so auch die meisten B2Run Läufe – können 2021 Corona bedingt leider nicht stattfinden. Immer mehr Firmenlaufteams starten daher virtuell bei den Runningdays. Denn ganz ohne Firmenlauf muss auch 2021 nicht sein.
